      <image:title>Projects - America's Whispered Truth's</image:title>
<image:caption>“Renee Billingslea and Willie Little critique portions of America’s social dilemmas, and confront the murky history of racial tensions in this country. Diverse media and tactics explore the corporeal human tragedies of the past, and subvert icons of degradation, thus reclaiming and representing them as symbols of beauty, strength, and resilience. The works reveal painful truths in our nation’s past, and challenge viewers to examine the current predicament of race in America.” Archer Gallery</image:caption>

      <image:title>About the Artist - About the Artist</image:title>
<image:caption>My artistic practice combines photography, stitching, and illuminating historical stories and social topics in American History. Through my artistry and commitment to storytelling, I continue to challenge perceptions and provoke conversations about social issues, historical topics and truths. Research is central to my creative process, enriching the understanding of the stories I re-tell. My art practice incorporates material culture, through stitching directly on my photograph, and object making. These elements play crucial roles in inviting viewers to connect with the artwork, fostering greater awareness, insight and experience. Billingslea earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts from Southern Oregon State University and a Master of Fine Arts from San Jose State University. She served as a Peace Corps volunteer who served and completed her service in Central Pacific, Kiribati. Billingslea is a Teaching Professor of Photography in the Department of Art and Art History at Santa Clara University. She resides in Santa Clara with her husband and actor, Aldo Billingslea.</image:caption>
